Band receives Prairie Meadows grant

The Greater Des Moines Community Band has received a Prairie Meadows Community Betterment Grant for a band equipment enhancement project.


The grants range from $100 to $99,999. A full list of this year's grant recipients is available on the Prairie Meadows website at www.prairiemeadows.com.
According to Prairie Meadows, the Community Betterment Grants "support qualified organizations seeking to improve the lives of people in their communities. In the past, grants have funded meals for hungry children, an essential free medical clinic, school renovations and city park improvements.


The all-volunteer band has scheduled three fall concerts, starting at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, at the Merle Hay Mall Food Court, 3800 Merle Hay Road, Des Moines. The second concert will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29, at the First Christian Church, 2500 University Ave., Des Moines. The final concert will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 30, at Walnut Ridge, 1701 Campus, Clive.

Fall concert schedule announced

The Greater Des Moines Community Band has announced its fall concert schedule.




The first Autumn Festival Concert will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, at the Merle Hay Mall Food Court, 3800 Merle Hay Road, Des Moines.




The second Autumn Festival Concert will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29, at the First Christian Church, 2500 University Ave., Des Moines.




The final fall concert will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 30, at Walnut Ridge, 1701 Campus, Clive.


There is no admission charge for any of the concerts.




The Greater Des Moines Community Band is an all-volunteer organization comprised of musicians from throughout the Des Moines metropolitan area. The director is Christa Miller.
